Tamburitza players from all over the world united 29 June 2013th in Novi Sad, the city where the World Tamburitza Associations is founded, designated for is headquartered. For the President of the World Tamburitza Association was unanimously chosen Dr. Jovan Pejčić, creator and president of the Organizing Committee of “Tamburitza Fest”. Since 2008. he has gathered more than 1 000 artists, masters of pen and wires from 16 countries of the world.

On that occasion, he said it is a great honor to preside of the international association, whose work is based on the teamwork of people who focus their energy in the common interest of preserving traditions but also encouraging to the new creations.

-This is about the historic moment of cooperation on a global level and it is clear that orchestras from Europe will participate on festivals across the ocean and back. Our mission is to left behind the new authorial songs at every festival and to be an inspiration to musicians for their new melodies. -Said Pejčić.

Foundation Assembly of the World Tamburitza Association, the sixth in a row planetary festival of orchestras, was held at the Petrovaradin Fortress, the source of tambura famed by the legendary Janika Balaz.

An initiative for associating has been started by the representatives of European, American and Canadian Federation of Tamburitza and formed a nine-member Board of Directors, seated in Novi Sad, whose membership included representatives from Serbia, USA, Canada, Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary…

Mark Forry, representative of the Tamburitza Association in America, who doctorated on “Srem Tamburitza” and speaks our language, has emphasized that the World Association has much space for improvement that will result in mutual cooperation and exchange of experiences. He also stated that every year, for more than a half century, tambura players in the U.S have been organizing festival across the continent, and for the next one the first guests from Serbia are going to be expected.
